Course contents :  Students participate to the consultations of cases, mostly refered, help to perform ancillary diagnostic tools and are involved in the hospitalisation process of the patients.
Course objective :  Pegagogic objectives include

- Ability to takean accurate history in companion animals cases

- Ability to analyse historical and clinical data

- Ability to establish differential diagnosis,

- Ability to establish vital and economic prognosis

- Ability to establish a treatment, and to apply it

- Practice of problem solving approach
Prerequisites :  Lectures of first and second doctorat: semiology, propedeutics and medical pathology of small animals
Organization :  Clinical teaching is ensurred thoughout a seven-weeks clinical carrousel and associated seminars, together with participation to the emergency service during nights, week-ends and holiday periods.

Clinics are organized from 8h00 to 17h00, and up to 8h30 the next day when on night duty


Groups of students and clinical rotations are available at the beginning of the carrousel periods


Each student has to fill in a written case log as well as full written report based on a clinical case

Written notes :  There are no specific leaflets, although lots of written leaflets exist, for different practical seminars.
Assessment :  Students are evaluated during their clinical prestations, a written and oral evaluations are also organized, and the written reports are evaluated.

Remarks :  The presence of the student is due. For each absence or late arrival, the student needs to be excused in a very bried delay, medical certificate must be sent immediately to the secretary of the concerned service, with a copy to the general student secretariat. Missed days need to be made up.

Unjustified absence will be taken into account during deliberations.
