Course contents :  Because of the particularly fast evolution of Communication and Information Technologies (TIC), the course is itself extremely evolutionary.

For example, a theme like the Web 2.0, appeared in 2005/2006, is already a part of the covered matter. In spite of this evolution, a global structure gives to the course a continuity in time. This structure is in based on the following blocks:

  • Global introduction to ICT: Internet, Web, E-business,... and evolution of their use, in the world and in Belgium
  • Form a simple Web site to a true entreprise portal: how a company can propose a total online presence addressing in a personalized way its different publics (employees, customers, suppliers, ...)
  • Web technologies: major development platforms, Web standards (XML, XHTML, CSS, etc) and usability, ...;
  • Search engines, ranking, online marketing (newsletter, advertising, buzz, ...). Google is especially highlighted in this part;
  • E-business models: B2C, B2B, ...;
  • Mobile technologies and mobile business: networks, applications, marketing, Web and mobile, devices, ...;
  • Web 2.0: what does this concept represent exactly (convergence, personalization, interactivity, mashup, RSS, ...)? How a company can benefit from it?
  • Legal aspects of the TIC. Those aspects are the base of an online strategy;
  • Computer security: how to work out a computer security policy into the company?
All the contents are based on case studies. The "Web" is the baseline of the course, because it is "the place to be" for a company.
Course objective :  The goal of the course is to set the students in a technological watch concerning ICT. So they will have to be able to identify the major IC technologies and their uses in the companies and the organizations.

In their future work, they will be inevitably confronted with projects integrating ICT, massively or partly. The theoretical contents and case studies will have to enable them at this time to pose correct diagnoses and to make the decisions to get the best from these technologies.

For example, how to integrate a positionning campaign on search engines in the marketing strategy of the company? Or, how to grow from a simple Web site to a true enterprise portal?
Prerequisites :  It is not obligatory to have followed a precise course before.
Workshops :  There is a groupwork. The goal is to analyse a web site on basis of various aspects of the course: e-business model, marketing and referencing, ergonomics and development, ...
Organization :  Lecture and interaction with the students. External speakers can also take part in the course.

The reference to case studies is one of the fundamental axes of the course.
Written notes :  Web: http://mastertic.blogspot.com (http://www.awt.be/hec. It is also planned to create contents on the )www.elearning.ulg.ac.be (http://www.elearning.ulg.ac.be/ website.)
