Duration :  30h Th, 30h Pr
Credits/ECTS :
Master in Psychological Sciences, in-depth approach, 1st yearToute l'année4
Holder(s) :  Etienne Quertemont
Language :  Langue française
Course contents :  This course considers advanced problems of data analysis and research design development in experimental psychology. The specific content of the course is regularly adapted. For the academic year 2008-2009, the course deals with the multiple regression and its various applications (development of multiple regression research designs, analysis and interpretation of the results, assumptions underlying the multiple regression, diagnostic tools, and use of the software «statistica»). The students will learn how the multiple regression may be used instead of several more classical statistical tools.
Course objective :  The students will learn the accurate application of sophisticated statistical tools. In particular, they will be able to properly analyse the results of a study involving these statistical tools and to write a conclusion accordingly.
Prerequisites :  The course requires a good knowledge of basic inferential statistics and especially of the content of the courses "Descritpive and inferential psychostatistics - Part. 1 and 2).
Workshops :  Exercises are provided to illustrate the course. They take the form of data analysis with or without a statistical software. Exercises are collectively corrected.
Assessment :  The evaluation is based on a written report about an experimental study. Each student will be provided with the results of a real or fictitious study and will have to analyse the data and to write conclusions accordingly. The research report will involve the application of the studied statistical tools, the proper analysis and presentation of the results and the writing of a sensible conclusion.
