| Course objective : | The aim of the course is to introduce students to the complexity of the European and international diplomatic service in the domain of security, especially in NATO (including the "transatlantic link") and the OSCE; European Security and Defence Policy (ESDP); "frozen conflicts" and current diplomatic subjects. We shall also examine the role of modern "Public Diplomacy" and its diplomatic ramifications. |

| Organization : | The course will be organised in the form of highly interactive seminars on the chosen subjects. Students are required to prepare for each of these subjects. Four-hour classes will be given every two weeks. |

| Written notes : | The necessary documentation will be handed out. Students will also be required to gather documentation for each subject and will be asked to carry out their own research under the supervision of the course leader. |

| Assessment : | Assessment and marking will be based on student presentations (written preparation and oral presentation) during classes. There is no final exam, but regular attendance is compulsory. |
