Course contents :  The course is an introduction to sociology of migration and ethnicity through the study of some of the main texts of the discipline drawn both from Anglo-Saxon and French sociology.
Course objective :  The aim of the course is to provide the students with a theoretical basis as well as with a global picture of the classical literature in the field of sociology of migration and ethnicity.
Prerequisites :  A passive and active knowledge of written and spoken English is indispensable.
Workshops :  Each Student will make an oral presentation in class. Either the student will present the main ideas of one of the texts we will study. Or, she or he will present a discussion of a text.
The schedule of the presentations will be established in the week following the first class.
Organization :  The course could use 3 pedagogical tools:
- Lectures by the teacher
- Seminars based on the reading and dicussion of texts as well as on presentations made by students
-Lectures given by external guests.

Assessment :  first session: participation in class (including the presentations) (50% + a written examination (50%)
