| Course contents : | First Part
- Presentation of North-South relationships in their historical context: colonial interventions and the origin of the concept of development.
- Establishing perspective with respect to notions of development, underdevelopment and cooperation "for purposes of development", involving main theories of development, political contexts and major institutions.
- In conclusion, the following question will be discussed: How should we situate and understand the current paradigms of international cooperation?
Second Part
- Socio-anthropology of contemporary interventions in developing countries via international aid policy, cooperation and interventions by institutions focused on development and partnerships. Case studies and examples are drawn primarily from African experiences. |

- Knowledge of changes in main theories of development, international cooperation and North-South relationships.
- Ability to do historical, critical and comparative analysis of discourse, ideology and methods of cooperation institutions and development programmes.
