Course objective :  To initiate students in a research process in labour sciences and support them in producing a personal piece of research work (master's dissertation).
To present the requirements of a piece of research and provide the precise requirements linked to the dissertation.
To strengthen the necessary skills for research (bibliographical research, problematization, structuring ideas, etc.).
To help elaborate the development of the research and establish a work schedule.
To allow discussion on the difficulties encountered during the research (access to the field, conceptualisation, method, theoretical framework, etc.).
Workshops :  Writing several pieces of work (see assessment)
Organization :  Six sessions are planned. The sessions at the beginning of the year aim to give students certain essential research tools and show them examples of research. Thereafter, the sessions serve to support students in their personal research and help them review the progress of their dissertation.
Written notes :  Various documents will be distributed in class during the first session.
Assessment :  In addition to participation in different seminars, the final mark is established according to the different pieces of work handed in as well as the form of the dissertation. The introductory seminar on personal research leads to a mark established according to the different pieces of work handed in as well as the form of the dissertation. To be precise, the assessment is based on the writing of the summary of the proposed dissertation and the compilation of a relevant bibliography according to the tools proposed within the framework of the seminar, the mark on the state of progress and its oral presentation and the form of the dissertation: written expression, spelling, grammar, respect for the rules as regards the bibliographic references and layout, etc.
