Course contents :  
  • Presentation and examples of main currents in research in the area of the sociology of social movements.

  • Presentation and examples of contemporary movements and organisations in developing countries connected to the theme of globalisation.
Course objective :  
  • General introduction to a domain of sociology.

  • Knowledge and a critical approach to the main theoretical schools and leading authors.

  • Introduction to problematics of globalisation in relation to social movements and civil organisations that focus on it.

  • Introduction to collective mobilisations in developing countries.
Prerequisites :  None.
Workshops :  None.
Organization :  
  • Lecture course with 15 minutes for question and answer at the beginning of each class.

  • Visits from researchers, assistants and experts invited to lecture or to present particular aspects of the second part of the course, devoted to movements and organisations that focus on globalisation.
