Course contents :  The child development from birth to adulthood and some pathological conditions are discussed in a public health and health promotion perspective (e.g. : learning disorders, systematic neonatal screening, child abuse or neglect, exploratory behavior at adolescence, chronic diseases, eating disorders).
Course objective :  Understand the normal and pathological child and adolescent development and the related public health aspects in order to allow the public health worker to integrate such aspects in his future work.
Organization :  Ten lessons of 2 hours based on interactive lectures. Before the lecture, a scenario related to the topic of the lesson and involving some of the teaching messages is proposed. This scenario is discussed in small groups and comments and questions of the students are collected. In the lecture, several aspects related to the lesson topic are detailed. Finally, the different learning objectives are given.
Written notes :  The powerpoint presentations used for the different courses are made available to the students, before the lessons so that they can use print-out and add personal comments during the lesson.
Assessment :  Oral exam based on one short scenario among a series which is communicated to the students and discussed with them at the end of the course. The student has 20 minutes for written preparation.
