Course contents :  The course "Introduction to documentary research" tries to transmit know-how. At the end of the course, the student will be able to perform a literature searching and retrieval procedure in the fields of psychology, speech therapy and/or educational sciences.

There is no theory to learn: it is its application that matters. The acquired competencies will be useful all throughout the degree, but also later (process of continuing professional education).

The course focuses the principles and methods of scientific communication, documentary research, critical approach of psychological and educational information (including the Internet resources).
Course objective :  After completing the course, students will have more autonomy, be able to use critically the various resources in libraries, understand and apply the principles of scientific communication.
Organization :  The course focuses on the theoretical and technical aspects of the following topics:

- The various types of scientific communication ;

- The information on Internet ;

- The documentary approach ;

- The literature search tools (catalogs, bibliographic databases, etc.) ;

- The plagiarism and the APA norms for bibliographical references.

Assessment :  Exam during the exam session.
