| Course contents : | This course is based on the book of Randy J. Nelson (in English) mentioned below. Several chapters of the book are analyzed in groups. The main theoretical notions of each chapter are presented either by the teacher or by groups of 2-3 students to the rest of the classroom while trying to stimulate discussions among students and between the students and the teacher. The porportion of lectures given by the teacher or by the students themselves varies from year to year as a functon of the number of participants. The main goal is to learn the key notions structuring the vast amount of available data rather than focuss of the detail of experimental facts. An oral presentation supported by a Powerpoint file is requested from each student. This presentation covers notions included in a 20-30 page section of teh book used as reference |

| Course objective : | Provide bases that will allow an understanding of the fast growing literature on the endocrine control of complex social behaviors, with a special emphasis on steroid hormones and reproductive behaviors. |

| Prerequisites : | Passive knowledge of English (reading only) |

| Organization : | Seminars of 2 hours each during which 2-3 students present the main notions of one chapter of the book to the rest of the class and these notions are discussed. |

| Assessment : | The student grade is based on the activity of the student during the class and on his/her oral presentation. A final written exam is also organized in the form of open questions coverging the major concepts of the course. |
