Duration :  20h Th, 10h Pr
Credits/ECTS :
Bachelor in physical sciences, 3rd yearPremier quadrimestre3
Bachelor in physical sciences, 3rd yearDeuxième quadrimestre3
One-year preliminary programme leading to the Master in Space SciencesDeuxième quadrimestre3
Holder(s) :  Thierry Bastin
Language :  Langue française
Course contents :  This course aims in applying fundamental notions seen at the "Quantum physics: theoretical basis" course to various simple quantum systems (many particle systems, indiscernability, fine and hyperfine structure of hydrogen atom, light - matter interaction). Applications like quantum cryptography and atomic clocks are briefly studied.
Course objective :  To expose some applications resulting from the intriguing laws of quantum mechanics.
Prerequisites :  Quantum physics: Theory.
Workshops :  exercices (10h).
Organization :  The course is given according to a schedule distributed at the beginning of the year at the Physics building.
Written notes :  No notes. However, copy of the slides are available.
Assessment :  Oral (Theory) and written (Exercices) examination. Final note: 65% for theory, 35% for exercices.
