| Course contents : | Study of magnetism in condensed matter. Review of magnetic concepts, units. Review of basic quantum mechanics concepts, spin and orbital moment. Magnetic interactions. Ordered magnetic structures. Low dimension magnetism. |

| Course objective : | Initiate the student to magnetism and its application. |
 |
| Prerequisites : | The credits of a basic quantum mechanic course and of a basic solid state physics course are required. |
 |
| Organization : | The schedule will be fixed at the beginning of the academic year 07-08 by the Department of Physics. |

| Assessment : | One oral exam on theory and one exercise. |
