| Course contents : | This course focuses on the stakes of the social and political philosophy of phenomenology of Jean-Paul Sartre, in particular, his theory of the phenomenology of emotions (Esquisse d'une théorie des emotions, Hermann, 1938). On the one hand, this involves following the consequences of this in the works of Sartre himself, and on the other hand, using the Sartrean vision as a springboard in order to express philosophy and human sciences between 1870 and 1970. |
| Course objective : | Based on research on the phenomenology of affectivity, this course aims to question the practical and political uses of French phenomenology. The focus will be on a careful reconstruction of the French field of philosophy in the 1930s, especially the way in which German contemporary thought helped to support French philosophy and propose other methods. |
| Workshops : | The course is taught in the form of a seminar. Students receive the course notes a week before every class. These will serve as a support to the lesson and students are encouraged to read them critically. Any remarks and questions will be the starting point of every lesson. |
