| Course contents : | Urological pathologies are very common and account for 10% of the reasons people consult general practitioners. They can arise at any stage of life (crystalluria), be detected pre-natally (congenital diseases), but it is tumoural infections that account for most cases: 35% of malignant tumours have urological origins. Urinary problems can also stem from benign tumours: 30% of men suffer from prostatism, and 40% of adult women have continence problems. It is clear therefore that the main protagonists in this teaching session will stand beside the urologist; the pathologist to describe and analyse tissues, in particular tumours; the radiologist to provide diagnostic and interventional imaging; the paediatrician to look at infant anomalies and functional problems; the pharmacology intern to treat disorders in the functioning of the genito-urological system, and the radiotherapist to treat certain oncological problems. |

| Course objective : | The main objective is to provide students with the necessary pathological knowledge and techniques so that they can best act when confronted with urological problems. |
|
| Prerequisites : | Basic knowledge of the following fields is indispensable: embryology, anatomy, physiology, nephrology, and bacteriology. Advanced knowledge of semiology and propedeutics are essential in order to approach this subject. |
|
| Workshops : | The practical work carried out in Anatomical Pathology and Radiology. In Urology training classes are organised together with consultations, explorations, interventions and lectures. |
|
| Organization : | The course runs from the 15th September to the 25th of December and takes place in the CHU lecture halls. |
|
| Written notes : | A syllabus will be provided together with a Radiology and Urology CD. |
|
| Assessment : | Written exam (Multiple Choice Questions) and an oral exam in the framework of a multi-disciplinary exam. Obligatory presence in stages, practical courses and ARC. |
