| Course contents : | Recalibration of model and the identification of parameters are problems encountered every day by engineers. They are part of the larger set of "inverse problems", a type of problem that occurs in every area of modern engineering. An inverse problem, as it arises in the course of practical work, consists in determining a group of parameters that are associated with the model based on results obtained in experience. There may be many methods that permit an inverse problem to be resolved, but few of them are able to quantify the quality of the solution obtained. |
| Course objective : | The objective of this course is therefore to introduce students to the notion of validation of models and the ability to quantify the robustness of a model in relation to various uncertainties (lack of knowledge, fabrication tolerance, dynamic nonlinear behaviours) |
| Prerequisites : | Theory of vibrations. Measuring vibrations and identifying structures. |
| Workshops : | Students will be offered the opportunity to work with Matlab. This will give them a chance to practice using the ideas covered in class. |
| Organization : | 2nd semestre |
| Assessment : | Grading will be based on student production of practical work and the oral defence of the same. |
