| Course contents : | My participation to the 2008-2009 seminar will deal with : « Liège Enlightenment : from liberation to libertinism". We consider various themes:
- The image of woman in the Recueil général des opéra bouffons (Liège, Desoer, 1777) and the reviews of the Journal encyclopédique antd the Esprit des journaux (voir www.gehds.ulg.ac.be (http://www.gehds.ulg.ac.be/))
- The representation of popular classes and Parisian low vulgar debauchery on theatre and novel: Mercier, Restif de La Bretonne,
- From Condillac's statue to sensual pleasure: La Mettrie, Helvétius, Diderot et les « poètes de l'amour ».
- Editing Dulaurens' Chandelle d'Arras. |

| Course objective : | An introduction to the new currents of research, focusing on : discourse analysis, text-image relationship, socio-cultural networks, serial approach as practised by Sylvain Menant and his school in Paris. |

| Workshops : | Students submit a lecture on a freely chosen subject. |
