Course contents :  This course is for students who want to increase their knowledge of Spanish literature. The course takes a specialised approach to contemporary Spanish poetry, from romanticism to the avant-gardes, as a paradigmatic example of the relationship between literature and contemporary society. We will employ methods currently in use in approaching literary texts, taking account particularly of the conditions of production of Spanish literature.
Course objective :  Critical and informed knowledge of literary movements in contemporary Spain and their relationship with society. In particular, the double theme of literary politics and political literature will be discussed.
Prerequisites :  General knowledge of the history of Spanish literature and methods of literary analysis. Level C1 in Spanish language.
Workshops :  Doing assigned readings; active participation in class.

Written notes :  Recommended readings will be indicated for students before or during the first class meeting.
Assessment :  Written paper and oral exam.
