Course contents :  The emphasis in this course will be placed on the ways in which poetic consciousness brings into being the fantasies or reveries of a writer. Accordingly, there will be three centers of interest:
1. Myths, thematic motifs, symbols and archetypes in literature; an attempt to theorize regarding these four categories: identification of thematic networks according to a criterion of recurrence, topological quality of themes, etc.
2. Analysis of myths and criticism of myths: examination of myths that can be identified in textual productions, as individual and as collective obsessional expression, thus as that which is inscribed within a personal experience and as that which is inscribed in a sociocultural substrate (this year we will concentrate on romantic myths).
3. The imaginary universe of a writer: study of a writer's preference for certain images, of the creative dynamism that can give rise to a logic of sensibility.
Course objective :  The aim of this course is to help students, particularly as part of their future dissertation, to produce a symbolic reading of literary texts. That is to say, to adopt an approach which explores the imaginary worlds of certain writers or groups of writers.
