Course contents :  This course is part of a module on Gender studies. It aims at presenting women writers whose works may not have received the recognition they deserve.
Course objective :  This year the course bears on women's poetry of the First World War.
Prerequisites :  Good knowledge of English
Workshops :  Only few students attend the course, which as a consequence consists more of workshops than of lectures.
Organization :  2nd term.

Written notes :  Recommended anthology :
Catherine Reilly, Scars Upon My Heart (Virago, 1981/2006); some poems will come from Nosheen Kahn's anthology, Women's Poetry of the First World War (Harvester Wheatsheaf: Hertfordshire, 1988).
Assessment :  Students are expected to hand in an essay of 2 to 3,000 words on a couple of poems by one of the writers we will have discussed in class. An oral examination will take this assignment as its starting point.
