| Course contents : | 1. Studying meaning problems in selecded words and constructions of contemporary German.
2. Introduction to contemporary German linguistics (semantics and pragmatics).
3. Practicing basic grammar and vocabulary. |

a. Making exercises and reading linguistic texts to prepare discussion in class.

The students are supposed to have:
- Schwarz, Chur: Semantik. Gunter Narr (Taschenbuch).
- Grewendorf, Hamm, Sternefeld: Sprachliches Wissen. Suhrkamp (Taschenbuch).
- Langenscheidts Großwôrterbuch Deutsch als Fremdsprache.
- A German Grammar.
- Langenscheidt: basic vocabulary of German.
Sheets will also be handed out. |

Oral examination: theory, basic grammar and vocabulary, pronunciation.
