  • Study of the main chapters of Dutch grammar
  • Study of the vocabulary & exploitation of the contents of texts; lexical and grammatical exercises; speaking and writing exercises
  • Listening comprehension exercises
Course objective :  
  • This course develops basic language skills, especially the mastery of oral and written Dutch from both the passive and active points of view.
  • At the end of the year, students should have reached a good mastery of everyday Dutch. They should be able to understand and present an authentic newspaper article.
Prerequisites :  
  • A basic knowledge of the oral and written language is recommended.
  • The basic notions of Dutch grammar are revised at the start of the course.
  • As far as the vocabulary is concerned, the knowledge of the 2000 most frequent words is recommended.
  • Remediation lessons are organized for beginners and for students who didn't have many Dutch lessons during the secondary school.
Organization :  
  • 2 hours a week during the first term
    2 hours a week and one hour of exercises each week during the second term
  • A course for beginners or for students who did not have many Dutch lessons during their secondary school is organized during the whole year (two hours a week).
Written notes :  Syllabus and textbook.
Assessment :  
  • Several assessments throughout the year.
  • Oral and written exam at the end of the year.
