This course continues the development of reading, data gathering, and note-taking using texts or sets of texts (as started in the English Level One course). It also focuses on research and report-writing capacities, oral understanding and presentation skills. |

| Course objective : | The purpose of this course is threefold:
- allow students to read and understand English scientific literature,
- allow students to follow short oral presentations in English and take accurate notes of them,
- allow students to present scientific information in correct and consistent English.

| Prerequisites : | English Level One (taught in the first year of the Bachelor's Degree in Sciences) or equivalent (for example: IELTS 5.5-6 or Cambridge Advanced English A-C). |

| Organization : | The in-class course is taught to 25 to 35 students for two hours each week (45 hours in all).
Together, preparation, active participation, oral presentations and written assignments during the year account for 25% of the final grade. |

| Assessment : | Written exam in June (reading and listening comprehension multiple choice tests + writing exercises) and continuous assessment of progress through class participation, oral presentations and various written assignments. |
