Course contents :  The course continues the development of reading skills, data gathering, and note-taking using texts or series of texts (as started during the MedEng 1 course), and focuses also on research capacities, oral understanding, and presentation skills.
Course objective :  - allow students to read and understand English medical literature.


- allow students to understand short oral presentations in English.

- allow students to present in English scientific or medical information in a correct and consistent fashion.
Prerequisites :  MedEng 1 (Medical English -1st part, in 1st year of the Bachelor's Degree in Medicine or Dentistry) or equivalent (e.g. IELTS 5.5-6 or Cambridge Advanced English A- C).
Workshops :  The course features 8 sessions (duration: 2 hours). Each session requires a long preparation (between 1.30 and 4 hours). This work is mandatory. There are no ex cathedra lectures. Students take part actively in the sessions.
Organization :  Classes will take place on Wednesdays at 10.45 from 17 September on.
Written notes :  MEDENG2 course notes. Internet access is recommended.
Assessment :  Written exam with multiple choice questions (IELTS 6.0 level) and class presentations and/or listening comprehension. Students must demonstrate the ability to read and understand a wide selection of English medical texts (global and detailed understanding), to research information and to present in a consistent manner scientific information. They will also have to demonstrate the ability to understand oral information (presentations or conferences).
