| Course contents : | This course covers the following subjects: Elementary notions on digital circuits and Boolean logic, binary representation of numbers, main hardware components of a computer (processor, memory, communication busses, ...), instructions and their execution, assembly language, structure and principles of operation of an operating system. |

| Course objective : | Introducing the internal structure and principles of operation of computers. |

| Prerequisites : | None. |

| Workshops : | Exercise sessions. |
 |
| Organization : | Theoretical lessons followed by exercise sessions. The course is given on the second semester. |

| Written notes : | Course notes will be made available at the end of December at the student union press (AEES). |
