| Course contents : | This course consists of a series of programming projects in C that increase in size and difficulty. The programming assignments are preceded and supplemented by a few class sessions, where fundamental concepts of the C programming language are introduced.

| Course objective : | Computer programming (the creation and modification of software) is at the heart of computer science. This course is fundamental in the sense that it is the only course dedicated to learning a programming language. The C language is a direct ancestor of many modern programming languages. Over the course of your studies, your abilities to program and to learn programming languages will be taken for granted; this course provides you with the basic skills. |

| Prerequisites : | Basic programming skills |

| Workshops : | All weekly programming projects are mandatory for all students. |
|
| Organization : | 2nd quadrimester; weekly projects, plus several lectures and in-class programming sessions. |
|

|
| Assessment : | The final grade is composed of the programming projects. Since these projects take place exclusively during the 2nd quadrimester, it is impossible to compensate for missed projects for the 2nd exam session!
The final project, to be prepared under exam conditions, is designed to verify that the grades obtained for weekly projects reliably reflect the competence of their authors.
How to succeed: Carefully prepare each of the assigned projects. |
