| Course objective : | One of the major aspects of this course is to offer students a complete and diversified perspective of French cultural life over the past few centuries (16th century - 20th century), mainly in the field of French literature. However, the lecturer will highlight the existing links between the main fields of cultural life in French and, more broadly, Europe (painting, sculpture, literature). Particular attention will be paid to French-speaking Belgian literature. At the end of this course, students will be able to identify the major currents of thought which have marked French literature since the 16th century up until the present day. They will also be able to find relevant textual elements in a fragment of prose or verse linking the latter with a precise cultural and literary movement. Finally, the course is designed in such a way as to provide students with a background in French-speaking Belgian literature. |
