Course contents :  This course defines the main hospital structures: medical, administrative, logistical and details their reciprocal articulations.
It is divided in 15 chapters:
1. General aspects of hospital ressources: finances and manpower
2. Architectural concepts; advantages and disadvantages
3. Building and laying out: programmation and approval
4. General Direction
5. Medical Direction
6. Nursing Department
7. Financial Department
8. The employees service(management of human ressources)
9. The stewardship
10.The technical and building service
11.The service of security, hygiene and protection at work
12.The data processing service
13.The main medico-technical functions: operative theatre, emergency section, intensive care units, medical imaging
14.The logistical medical services: pharmacy, central sterilisation, etc.
15.The logistical general services: social service, cooking and dietetics, laundry, etc.)
Course objective :  The goal is to give the student, who will, in the course of his future professional life, occupy a position with responsibilities in the hospital, a general view of the hospital organization, the legal constraints, the management of the ressources in relation with the needs of the different sectors and structures.
Prerequisites :  None
Workshops :  None but hospital training periods are requested
Organization :  Oral lessons. They are given following a put back horary to enable the students already professionally active, to follow the course.
Written notes :  Typewritten notes provided by the professor
Assessment :  As organized by the Faculty of Medicine. Usually, oral examinations with time for the preparation of the response
