Course objective :   the class will cover topics related to fossilization and application of fossils to diverse geological/paleobiological problems. -fossilization -fossils as rock builders -fossils as dating tools -fossils as witnesses of evolution and paleogeography in the phanerozoic -origin and evolution of life in the precambrian -fossils witnesses of crises -fossils as tools in petroleum industry Prerequisites :   general geology Workshops :   -laboratory sessions illustrating the topics studied in class (observations of microfossils, fossil plants and invertebrates; visit of palynology and thin section laboratories) Organization :   -10h of class - lab sessions Written notes :   powerpoint presentations online Assessment :   -written examination (class and lab) Contacts :   Prof. E.
