| GEOL0266-1 | Groundwater contamination and protection
| Duration : | 15h Th, 15h Pr |
| Credits/ECTS : |
| Holder(s) : | Alain Dassargues |
| Language : | Langue française |
| Course contents : | Introduction, evaluation of groundwater quality, monitoring network for the background groundwater quality and for drinking water standards, solute transport in unsaturated/saturated zones of the underground, main principles underlying the protection zones, intrinsic vulnerability assessment and mapping for the groundwater resources in general or for pumping wells and springs, hydrogeological mapping, natural attenuation and optimized techniques for groundwater remediation, study cases. Invited speakers from research institutions and expertise companies. |
| Course objective : | Deep understanding and knowledge in the general topic of groundwater protection. Skill development in the use of techniques for vulnerability mapping, contaminant transport modelling and optimisation of remediation schema. |
| Prerequisites : | It is better if the student has already some knowledge about groundwater modelling. |
| Workshops : | Practical works are organised on powerful PC's for a half of the scheduled time. A practical case study will be studied with (among others) solute transport modelling. |
| Organization : | First semester from the 7th week Thursday pm 14h-18h Room -1/426 Building B52 |
| Written notes : | References are recommended and pdf files with the used transparents are made available. |
