Species and populations. Role of the natural selection. Speciation. Punctuated equilibrium or phyletic gradualism? Fossil record. Ontogenesis and phylogenesis. Heterochrony . Exemples of specific evolution from the fossil record. Macroevolution. Genetic evolution. Morphological limits of the diversification. Conclusions. Course objective :   Study of the morphological processes of evolution in species. Prerequisites :   Basic knowledge in palaeontology and biology. Organization :   Registration for the course has to be made before the end of September 2007, directly to E. Poty. Dates for the course have to be set during the first period.
