Course contents :  Methods for reconstructing palaeogeographies. Oceanic and marine dynamics and sea-level variations during the ancient times. Palaeoclimatic and palaeogeographic evolution. Major crises (late Ordovician, late Devonian, P/T and K/T boundaries, Messinian event, end of the last glaciation,...).
Course objective :  General knowledge of the contingent evolution of the biosphere and palaeogeography. Integration and discussion on datas from earth sciences for evolution and events reconstruction.
Prerequisites :  geology and palaeontology courses.
Workshops :  The two field days are devoted to the study of the geological record of palaeoclimatic and eustatic fluctuations and the tectonical influence in sedimentary series.
Organization :  Theory (20h): Friday from 10.30 am to 0.30 pm. Building B18. First period.
