| Course contents : | In the field of the local development, the advised political way is to make a break with the top-down processes for going to more participative processes, in order to solve the local problems.
By working together with all the skateholders concerned, the hope is to obtain better solutions by the negociation, new, more adapted to the context and more sustainable.
That new decision and territorial management process, named "territorial governance", asks often a mediation by a person who has some pedagogical competences. The geographers can play that role, may be.
The aim of the course is to clarify the profile of that kind of person and to initiate the students to the use of some tools and methods that are judged as efficient. |

| Course objective : | 1. To draw the wallonian and european political context where the territorial governance has emerged and to clarify the associated concepts.
2. To determine the stakes of the governance, its potential trumps, its limits and the obstacles to be cleared.
3. To determine the status, the roles and the functions of an animator working whith various stakeholders groups.
4. To discover and to make own some grids useful to conceive or to analyze some pedagogical accompaniment strategies in the field of the governance. |

| Workshops : | Through the practices, it will be for the students the opportunity :
- to meet some experienced people, in various contexts;
- to know some methods and tools by experience. |

| Organization : | The course will be done between the 22th of september and the 10th of october 2008.

| Assessment : | The students will have to produce a report with a presentation and a critical analysis of a methodological strategy used by an organization working in the field of the territorial governance.
The report will have 10 pages, not included the annexes.
This report will be presented in front of some discerning audience. |
