Credits/ECTS :
Master in Geographical Sciences, general orientation, in-depth approach, 2nd yearToute l'année3
Holder(s) :  Jean‑Marie Halleux, Bernadette Merenne‑Schoumaker
Language :  Langue française
Course contents :  Two main themes were retained for this academic year: the New Economic Geography and the New Institutional Economics.
Course objective :  Lead the students to discover and integrate new research issues in their formation.
Prerequisites :  Seminars held in the second year of Bachelor (Initiation to bibliographic researches and to scientific communication) and former lectures in economic geography and urban geography.
Workshops :  Lectures and practical exercises are integrated in the research approach
Organization :  For each set of themes, the students receive key references which they can supplement. Their work consists in releasing from this literature the new contributions as well in terms of concepts as of methodology and to seek how to connect them to the existing knowledge.

A seminar is organized at the half of the research period in order to discuss the works in progress. Each research leads to a twenty pages report and to an oral communication based on a PowerPoint presentation.
Written notes :  Two lists on key references
Assessment :  The work is co-evaluated by the two professors and the student, on the basis of an evaluation grid which takes into account written work and the oral presentation.
