Course contents :  The course is divided into 5 parts:
- Discrepancies in the Belgian climate
- Specific methods for measuring and analysing topoclimatology and geographic effects on local climate
- Wind regime in mountainous areas
- The characteristics of climatic variables in urban areas
- The characteristics of climatic variables in woodland areas
Course objective :  To discover and interpret climatic contrasts both locally and regionally (spatial-temporal variability).
Prerequisites :  Basic understanding of climatology and meteorology.

Organization :  Theory class (15 hours): the course takes place over five 3-hour sessions.
Practical fieldwork (2 days of practical/field work): in the 2nd semester.
Collective field placement in Belgium or in another country with measurement campaigns at different times of the day. Drafting of a report.
Written notes :  Course notes will be distributed throughout the course. They include extracts from specialist publications either in English or in French. Titles of reference books will be given during the first class.
Assessment :  - Written exam: 15 points out of 20.
- Behaviour during field work and placement report: 5 points out of 20.
