ENVT0872-1  Water treatment
Duration :  60h Th, 60h Pr
Credits/ECTS :
Master in Sciences and management of environment, in-depth approach, 2nd year9
Master in sciences and environment management Toute l'année9
Holder(s) :  Jean‑Luc Vasel
Language :  Langue française
Course contents :  Is given during the 1° semester. Water treatment (drinking water/ industry) and wastewater treatment (physical and biological) are presented by a "unit operation" approach.

A special attention is given to practical training
Course objective :  This cursus is aiming to provide knowledges to know the main steps of water treatment, how to operate those facilities and the design ot the main steps
Prerequisites :  Basics in chemistry (Acid/base, redox, stoechiometry,..), physics and mathematics. .Basics in microbiology. Data processing.

Knowledge of Excel
Workshops :  The main "Unit processes" are studied theoretically and by practical tests done by the students, including data processing and calculations.

The pratical part of biological treatment is done by tests on full scale facilities
Organization :  1° semester. 1/2 day lectures. Practical training follows the theory as close as possible. Each practical test is described in a document provided to the students before the tests. This cursus is divided into 3 parts : water treatment (drinking), physico-chemical treatment, biological treatment. Practical treatment is focused on the 2 last parts. Group reports are asked to the students.
Written notes :  Copies of the Powerpoint presentation. Student files for the practical training

A "up to date" file of the PP is also store each year in the intranet for students.
