| Course contents : | Type and sources of wastes. Collection schemes. Application of unit operations known from mineral processing technology in recycling of solid wastes (mining and metallurgical, post-consumer wastes). Presentation of specific separation techniques developed for waste processing (shredder, balistic separators, pneumatic tables, Eddie current separators, optical sorters, X Ray sorting,...). Principal flow-sheets in use (case studies - batteries, ELV, WEEE, etc.). Possible avenues for end use of the different components derived from waste processing (valorisation -in terms of energy and material recovery). Incineration, co-incineration, thermolysis Treatment of polluted soils. |
