Course contents :  In economic activities performance is a key issue. Over the last twenty years new methods and tools were developed allowing identifying deviations from optimal behaviour. The growing frontier analysis literature postulates that best practice production and cost frontiers can be computed using observed data. For the purpose, several parametric and non-parametric, stochastic or deterministic approaches were developed in order to estimate technical and allocative efficiencies in production. The objective of this course is to familiarise students with these alternative approaches through their application using real world data and specialised computer programmes. The chose examples illustrate the use of frontier analysis tools for regulatory purposes.
Workshops :  Sessions devoted to solve exercises using adapted software and data files.
