Course contents :  This course provides an introduction to the rules and the practice of the World Trade Organisation. It intends to illustrate the main tensions arising in international trade relations and their resolution in international law. The first part of the course deals with the core principles of the international regulation of trade in goods and their exceptions. The second part of the course addresses the interface between domestic regulation and the above-mentioned core principles. The third part of the courses covers trade remedies (anti-dumping and countervailing duties) and general safeguard measures and procedures. The fourth part of the course provides a brief overview of the multilateral rules pertaining to trade in services and the trade-related aspects of intellectual property rights. The final part of the course deals with the rules and procedures governing the settlement of disputes.
