Holder(s) :  Marc Delogne
Language :  Langue française
Course contents :  Introductory course to camera techniques (analogue, digital and "lighting" elements ), sound recording (type ENG and docu), video editing (DV25, DVcam and HDV on Avid Media Composer), sound mixing for video and a scene's "audio background".
Course objective :  1.Now: to understand the fundamental notions of sound and video image techniques - in the current digital and computer environment - in order to acquire technical knowledge and a command of the tools. Why? On the one hand, to allow you to succeed in all the exercises within the framework of your various Professional Practices courses at the university and, on the other hand, to make you rapidly operational during your placement in a company or institution.

2.Tomorrow: by acquiring technical knowledge, you will become well-informed, independent and pertinent interlocutors with professionals in the audiovisual world: directors, producers, sound and image engineers and post-production specialists.
Defending the meaning and the contents by better defining the field of the technology and its limits, inevitably involves knowledge of its rules and the players involved.
Prerequisites :  Knowledge of cinematographic means.
Workshops :  Making a "remake" of a film sequence filmed in video or making a TV subject.
Organization :  The course includes 10 x 3-hour sessions, every Wednesday from 09:00 to 12:00, in the Lumière room. (1st session Wed. 24/09/2008.)
We shall also visit TV studios and sets outside the university according to a schedule that will be sent to you.
Written notes :  In principle, no theory. Insofar as it is possible, the course is based on the perception of AUDIO-VISION in order to deal with the fundamental notions and techniques; therefore, it is essential to attend the classes. Summary sheets will help you to structure your notes.
You will be sent a bibliography of high-level reference works for those of you who want to examine the principles at work in current digital audio and video (SD and HD) technologies.
Assessment :  - Producing and directing a piece of work in teams of 3 students.
- Individual written exam on the fundamental notions and principles involved in the technologies dealt with in the course.
Contacts :  My office is at the LICAM, the place where you will do your editing and borrow the necessary audiovisual equipment.
I share the laboratory with the technician from our department: Daniel KOS.
A timetable of who is on duty will be posted.
Remarks :  EQUIPMENT LOAN: the rules, conditions for borrowing equipment and the essential instructions will be sent to you via the LICAM.
