CHIM0665-1  Macromolecular chemistry and procedures
Duration :  30h Th, 30h Pr
Credits/ECTS :
Master in Chemical Engineering and Materrial Sciences, in-depth approach, 1st yearPremier quadrimestre5
Master in Chemical and Material Sciences, specialized approach, 1st yearPremier quadrimestre5
Holder(s) :  Anne‑Sophie Duwez, Jean‑Marie Liégeois
Language :  Langue française
Course contents :  The first part of the course is a detailed discussion of all the known mechanisms for the synthesis of macromolecules. The second part is devoted to the solution properties of polymers. The structure of the course is such that the general behaviour of polymers can be understood at the molecular level and justifies the large range of their application fields.
Course objective :  This course aims at being a unique synthesis of the main concepts of chemistry and physics of polymers as well as basic methods for their characterization
Prerequisites :  Basic organic and physical chemistry
Workshops :  4 half days, with the purpose to illustrate the major themes of the course.
Organization :  10 courses of 2h each.
4 half days of practical exercises.
Written notes :  Made available to the students for photocopy.
Assessment :  Written exam (half a day)
