Holder(s) :  Bénédicte Vertruyen
Language :  Langue française
Course contents :  This course is an introduction to the electrical, magnetic and optical properties of solid materials. The relationships between the macroscopic properties and the atomic structure will be described without resorting to complex mathematical developments. Examples will be chosen in metals, ceramics, glasses and polymers. In the second part, general concepts such as anisotropy, low dimensionality,... will be illustrated.
Course objective :  The objective of the course is to provide the students with the basic knowledge necessary to get access to more advanced textbooks or literature related to material properties.
Organization :  The course will be organized during the February-April period.
Written notes :  A copy of the slides will be given at the first lecture.
Assessment :  oral examination, about the course itself and one or two articles. These papers are made available at the end of the last lecture.
