| CHIM0640-1 | Microstructural Characterization techniques
| Duration : | 30h Th |
| Credits/ECTS : |
| Holder(s) : | Philippe Compère, Catherine Henrist |
| Language : | Langue française |
| Course contents : | The first chapter presents the electron microscopy and the multiple associated imaging modes, including the elemental composition spectroscopy.
The second chapter will be devoted to the determination of tridimensional organization of solids, from the nano- to the microscale.
The lecture will focus on the applied aspects in relation with the numerous available equipments located within the ULg. |
| Course objective : | The lecture aims at giving an overview of available tools for characterizing the microstructure of a solid sample, either powder, bulk or multi-phased material. At the end of the lecture, the students should have understood the physics needed for the understanding of the equipments functionnalities. They will be able to extract and interprete the data describing the topography, chemical composition, porosity, 3D organization and texturation of a sample. |
