Course contents :  -Introduction and basic concepts.
-Embryonic development of Drosophila.
-Xenopus frog
-Additional topics concerning mouse and chicken embryogenesis.
-The endodermis in vertebrates, and the pancreas.
-Central nervous system
-Pituitary gland.
-Cartilage and bone.
-Vascularization and angiogenesis.
-Practical exercises illustrating some of the techniques employed in this discipline.
Course objective :  This course presents complementary knowledge concerning molecular mechanisms that control the embryonic development of animals. Organogenesis will be covered in a more detailed manner with regard to a few specific organs.
Prerequisites :  Basic knowledge of molecular biology, cellular biology and developmental biology (Examples ULg: BIOL0803-1, GENE0210-1, BIOL0804-1)
Organization :  15 hrs of ex cathedra course + 20 hrs of practical work
Written notes :  Slides, available on CD or intranet
