| Course contents : | This course begins by presenting the origin of the elements, the solar system, the Earth, the atmosphere, the oceans and life. The large reservoirs (atmosphere, lithosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere) are then described, as well as the main biogeochemical phenomena occurring in them. Finally, the overall cycles of the major elements contributing towards the existence of organic matter are analysed: water, carbon, nitrogen, phosphorous and sulphur. |
| Course objective : | To understand the origin and evolution of the main biochemical phenomena that govern the Earth. |
| Prerequisites : | Good understanding of chemistry and biology. |
| Workshops : | None. |
| Organization : | Fifteen 2-hour classes between the start of the academic year and January. |
| Assessment : | (To be defined) |
