| Course contents : | The methods which are reported are described within the framework of examples selected among a few specific biology ways.
The main topics presented are:
- Methods used in molecular biology: RT-PCR, southern blot, northern blot, electrophoresis, FACS, tritiated thimidin incorporation, ...
- Methods using radioactive tracers: radiation detection, how to work adequately with radioisotopes, radioprotection, transepithelial flux measurements, compartment analysis, autoradiography, thimidin incorporation in cell culture, ...
- Methods in electromicroscopy: slice preparation, MEB, TEM, SCAN, micro-analysis, ... |

| Course objective : | The aim of this course is to offer a basic smattering of the main methods used in animal biology investigations. |

| Prerequisites : | Basic knowledges in chemistry and in physics. |
 |
| Organization : | Interactive seminars - visits of research laboratories. |
 |
| Written notes : | Selected reprints and review articles are offered to the students. |
 |
| Assessment : | Course attendance is obligatory. A detailed report on seminars content is requested. |
