Course contents :  The methods which are reported are described within the framework of examples selected among a few specific biology ways.

The main topics presented are:

- Methods used in molecular biology: RT-PCR, southern blot, northern blot, electrophoresis, FACS, tritiated thimidin incorporation, ...

- Methods using radioactive tracers: radiation detection, how to work adequately with radioisotopes, radioprotection, transepithelial flux measurements, compartment analysis, autoradiography, thimidin incorporation in cell culture, ...

- Methods in electromicroscopy: slice preparation, MEB, TEM, SCAN, micro-analysis, ...
Course objective :  The aim of this course is to offer a basic smattering of the main methods used in animal biology investigations.
Prerequisites :  Basic knowledges in chemistry and in physics.
Organization :  Interactive seminars - visits of research laboratories.
Written notes :  Selected reprints and review articles are offered to the students.
Assessment :  Course attendance is obligatory. A detailed report on seminars content is requested.
