Common part (20 h). The chapters of this section are :

air pollutants in animal houses; lighting and sound level; wastes management; climatic characteristics (temperature, relative humidity, air speed) and their effect on animal thermal comfort; isolation, ventilation and heating of animal houses; housing design and equipments for cattle, pigs and poultry housing; legislation on animal transport.

Complements on housing design and equipment according to species:

Option: farm animals (cattle, pigs, domestic fowls) - 10 h

History of farm animal husbandry is described and legislation on farm animal housing and the influence of housing systems on animal health, welfare and productivity are detailed.

Course objective :

This course details the environmental factors influencing the production, health and welfare of farm animals. The course also describes the effects of farm animals on the human environment
