Introduction 1. Variability of the atmosphere 2. Radiative processes and energy balance 3. Thermostatics 4. Atmosphere fundamental equations 5. Theory of atmospheric movements (geostrophic approximation, thermal wind, atmospheric waves, etc) 6. The planetary boundary layer (atmospheric turbulence) 7. Saturation and condensation processes 8. Large-scale atmospheric circulation 9. Circulation in extratropical zones (fronts) 10. Numerical modelling and forecasting
Practical lessons
Exercises linked to the various chapters. Visit of a forest micrometerological site and illustration of acquisition and processing of meteorological data at this site. |

| Course objective : | The objective of the course is an introduction to atmopheric dynamics and meteorological processes.

| Prerequisites : | Good knowledge of mathematics and mechanics, basic knowledge of fluid mechanics. |
