Course contents :  After a historic outline of the evolution of the quantitative survey and the opinion poll, the course deals in the first part with:
1. Elementary statistical notions of the theory of opinion polls;
2. Various types of samples and different sample probability methods;
3. Shaping of the questions and the questionnaire of inquiry;
4. Interpretation of the survey results.

The second part of the course consists in the presentation and the critical discussion (in the form of seminars) of a portfolio of readings concerning the problems of methodological, socio-political, ethical order, connected to the practice of polls and to the distribution of their results.
Course objective :  Initiation of the students into techniques and into critical examination of the sample survey.
