| Course contents : | Introduction to the scientific approach : theory, hypotheses, research strategies - validity and fidelity - dependent and independent variables - psychology of the evaluation - control and causality. Concept of attitude : Measurement of the attitudes: representative measurements and scales of attitude - psychometric measurements, traditional and current approaches. Analyses and design for non-experimental data: noncausal hypotheses - causal hypotheses Surveys : partim I : introduction - sampling and interview Surveys : partim II : Survey and social cognition - development of questionnaires - surveys as cognitive process of communication Quasi-experimental and experimental approach (Presentation (individual or in small group) of an article JPSP) |

| Course objective : | The course aims at understanding the essential scientific methods of investigation in psychology and developing the knowledge of the principal techniques in this field. |

| Written notes : | Syllabus + mandatory readings. |

| Assessment : | Written examination (approximately 10 questions). Oral presentation of a scientific article, insisting on the method. This presentation moderates the mark obtained with the written examination. |
